Professor Jason Palmer will present “Moral Implications for Holocaust Reparations – In re Holocaust Victim Assets Litigation and the Claims Resolution Tribunal for Dormant Accounts in Switzerland.”Professor Palmer, who was a Team Leader and Claims Judge at the Claims Resolution Tribunal in Zurich, Switzerland, will discuss the historical background to reparations for Holocaust claims against Swiss banks and the resolution of those claims through an international mass claims process, as well as discuss the class action lawsuit brought in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, which resulted in a $1.25 billion settlement and utilized the international mass claims process to provide a distribution mechanism for the proceeds of the class action settlement.
